DeKalb County Earth Fest is more than a one-day celebration.
It’s a living example of what’s possible when neighbors come together around shared care for place, people, and future.
Hosted by DeCarbon DeKalb, Earth Fest is a free, festive, family-friendly community gathering that brings together over 1,000 residents each year to explore practical, hopeful pathways to local climate adaptation.
Through science, energy solutions, food systems, land stewardship, youth voices, art, and connection, Earth Fest helps people see something essential:
Change is possible.
Change is probable.
And it starts close to home.
Why DeKalb County?
Because climate action is most powerful when it’s local, relational, and practical.
DeKalb County sits at a unique crossroads:
A strong agricultural and rural landscape
A vibrant university community
Small towns, neighborhoods, and businesses deeply connected to place
Here, climate change shows up in real ways - energy costs, weather extremes, food systems, land health - and so do the solutions.
DeCarbon DeKalb exists to help our county:
Save money through smarter energy choices
Build resilience through land and food systems
Support youth leadership and community learning
Strengthen local networks that last beyond any single event
When you give locally, you’re not funding an abstract idea. You’re investing in neighbors, relationships, and real-world impact.
